NASM-CPT, XPS, Team USA Basketball Gold Coach Certified
Coach Diaz was born and raised in Northern Virginia and has played basketball his entire life. He grew up playing AAU basketball in the D.C. circuit playing against talent from Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. He has also played 4 years of high school basketball at Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia.
After graduating from James Madison University with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and Exercise Science, Daniel would go on to be Freshman Boys Basketball and Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at his Alma Mater of Broad Run High School under his former coach, John Costello.
Along with coaching basketball, Coach Diaz has a passion in training athletes for performance. He has certifications in personal training through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), as well as Performance Specialist through EXOS. Daniel has trained athletes of all ages, skill levels, and sports. Previously working with Explosive Performance in Northern Virginia, he has helped and trained youth, high school, college and professional athletes around the nation.
Today, coach diaz serves as an assistant coach to the women’s basketball team under coach dunmyer at virginia wesleyan university.
He is also an Exercise Specialist and performance coach at The Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) Facility in Landstown – Virginia Beach, and continues to train athletes of all ages and skill levels working on speed, agility, strength, power, and conditioning.
Additionally, coach diaz attended the Team USA Basketball Coach Academy for Youth Development Camp in Las Vegas in 2017 and is Gold Coach Certified - and was invited to watch team usa 2018 u17’s world cup team training camps in Colorado Springs, CO at the Olympic Training Center.
Daniel has always been a student of the game and knew at a young age if playing basketball wasn’t in his future, he definitely wanted to coach and express his knowledge to develop younger players after him. Coach Diaz has a passion in coaching and loves being part of the process in seeing people succeed on and off the court.
